Betta Fish, Act II

Remember those Betta fish we got a while ago? The ones we got last year, who are the subject of our second-most-recent blog post?

We thought they wouldn't last this long.

However, according to Wikipedia, these little guys are going to live 2-5 years. Despite our sometimes absenteeism "parenting", they are still as lively as ever(though mine still can't turn left). We enjoy our little guys, and hope we can keep them alive while we party this summer! Any takers on fish-sitting?

Um . . Yeah

So this blog was intended to be updated at least weekly by either Sarah or myself. That has not happened.

This will change.

For an update of past excitement, I have this to say: Its been a blast!

I have recently started work as a Silverlight Programmer at a company called Imagine Learning. I write educational games to help kids learn English! The work environment is awesome, I get to do positive things for society, and get paid well - all at the same time!

I have not been the only one having an awesome time, Sarah has been doing lots as well. Today is her last day of student teaching, and she is working on graduating from BYU this August! The last class she has to take is a 6 week field camp, hiking all around Utah and writing essays to complete her Geological experience.

Together, we enjoy very much serving in a singles ward here at BYU where I am in the Bishopric, and she teaches a Temple/Marriage Prep class. It is TONS more fun than a married student ward or a regular family ward; as there is tons more energy and excitement.

That was a quick and punchy wrap-up to the last 10 months of no-blogging. I hope you will be hearing more form Sarah and I in the future.

P.S. Any typos or poorly constructed sentences are the direct result of too much caffeine at 2:00 AM.

New Parents!

Yes, we are now very proud parents! I know you are dying to hear the story so here it goes. We have been talking about it for a while. We were worried about the space and the time, the energy and money required. But on Mothers day (what better day to become parents) we adopted two beautiful Beta fish.

We wanted to make a Disney theme for all of our pet names. Corey's fish is named Emperor Zurg and mine is named Flo. They have added such joy to both our lives. Emperor Zurg really lives up to his name. They are Siamese Fighting fish so the first night we brought them home we had them sharing the same tank with only a plastic divider and they fought all night. In the morning we found poor Flo sitting at the bottom and Zurg triophantly swimming around. Now they live in two different contains with a colored paper between them.

Flo and Zurg are also very smart (mostly Flo). Zurg will attack anything he sees. He will also try to jump out at feeding time. Flo will follow my finger at feeding time and even try to eat the food from my fingers. We are very happy with the new addition to our beautiful family.

So I finally updated our blog. I am very proud of my self and I think it looks way cute, but how could it not? Corey and I would make anything look good. I have been reading others friend's and family's and I feel like it is now my obligation to make one too. I also took a class at BYU last semester that taught me how to blog so not only do I feel obligated I am highly qualified. So I would like to welcome you to the new and improved Larson Family News Blog!

I know it's been a little while since I last posted so I'll give some updates first, We got Married! Yay! And if you will notice our counter on the side that Corey programmed it now shows how many days we have been married rather than days until we get married. (which also reminds me how longs it's been since the last post)

Another thing I learned from reading other people's blogs is that it isn't a worth while post if it doesn't have at least one picture. So here are some of my favorites.

Yay we are married now.

"yay for love"

Sarah's first post

Wow, this is the first time I have ever written a blog post. I'll tell my side of the story of how we met and got engaged. We were in FHE together, and I especially remember one day at church I wore a pink shirt and he wore a pink tie and sat next me. We matched. It was meant to be. ;-)

Then on the evening of June Twenty-fifth Corey took me on a date up the canyon to eat tinfoil dinners. The weather was threatening rain, but it held off just for us. Corey finished his dinner before I did and went to go "rearrange" the coals. I was turned finishing my dinner and all the sudden Corey said, "Look what I found!" and I turned around and he had a cute little box all wrapped up in tinfoil. Then all of a sudden he was down on one knee and asking me the question. And after seeing the ring how could I have said no?

We have now been engaged for almost a month now, and it has been wonderful! I will be sure to keep posting if Corey makes any mistakes in telling his stories. :)

Added a counter

The counter is now a thing of reality! Back to your scheduled programming . . .

A real first post

I suppose now is the time to make a real first post. Although not yet "The Larson Family", I hope to add a counter on the side, maybe with the header "Days until the blog title is accurate!" or something like that.

Anyways, we created this blog so we can keep you all appraised of the goings-on in our own lives, as well as connect with our friends near and far. Please use this blog as a forum for discussion and communication with us and each other. NO CREEPY STALKERS WELCOME!

To open this blog, I would love to offer my version of the story regarding how we met and how I proposed. Sarah I am sure will add her side, as I probably have things wrong.

As I remember it, I first saw Sarah at our first Family Home Evening meeting. In my mind, I still remember answering the question "Where would oyou live, and why?" almost exactly the same as she did. We both said "Paris". The why is not important. Immediately, I thought "Wow, shes cool. We need to talk". That gradually morphed into "Wow, we should go on a date." And that set off a chain reaction that has led to today - a happily engaged couple who is excited to starst a life on their own.

Now for the proposal. To those of you who have already heard the story, I am sorry.

On Thursday, June 25, Sarah and I went on a date up Provo canyon. I had prepared some tinfoil dinners for our consumption, and unbeknownst to her, a mini-tinfoil dinner, which happened to have a ring inside. We arrived at South Fork park, found a firepit, and started cooking. I had brought some dessert and other munchies, so we ate those while just hanging out by the fire. The dinners cooked, and they were delicious! Love was in the air! I finished first, and went to "re-arrange the coals" using the tongs we had. I slipped the ring wrapped in tinfoil into the tongs from my pocket - saying "Look what I found!"

The next few moments were some of the most interesting I have ever had. They were slow, fast, nervous, exciting, and every other emotion possible. I unwrapped the wring, opened the box, knelt down on one knee, and asked Sarah to marry me. She said yes.

And thats how it happened folks.
